Written with the clarity of a boy leaving childhood, it deals with society, love, loss, and expectations without ever falling into the clutch of a cliche.

Над Пропастью во ржи — гениальная книга в оригинале, классика жанра young adult. Тот факт, что Холден Колфилд настолько реальный и жизненный персонаж, сразу делает его для меня протагонистом. Интересны его мысли и действия, та атмосфера Нью-Йорка, в которой он пребывает, да и в целом общество того времени, 1960-е. Мне очень нравится возможность ощутить атмосферу той эпохи через текст. Формат книги удобный. С уровнем английского Advanced читается роман быстро.
Произведение, которое стоит прочитать в оригинале
"Над пропастью во ржи" - достаточно самобытное произведение: чтобы погрузиться в повествование, уловить стиль и манеру автора, его нужно прочитать в оригинале. Однако у данного издания имеются некоторые недочёты.

It's worth reading it in English.
I can say that the book is the same peculiar as I read it when I used to study at school, and that's why I love it, but I looked at it another way this time and I found it much deeper thanks to the original text than I read it for the first time in my first language. Probably that's why I could better catch the some things for the second time of the reading because they weren't like sugar- coated in the original text.
I was surprised by my changed opinion. The book seems excellent to me and I would love to read it one more time in the future.
The language of the book is a bit challenging but it's worth reading it. I would recommend to take a look at some words from time to time to check meanings some of them like "to shoot the bull".
