До знакомства с творчеством Вульф я никогда раньше не сталкивалась с таким странным нагромождением образов и идей, которые складываются автором из простых слов в ясные и точные замечания и рисуют прекрасные картины человеческого опыта. В историю, базирующуюся на личных размышлениях, аккуратно вплетаются философствование и психологический анализ, и, порой, сложно понять, чьи именно перед нами мысли и результатом чего они являются. Это одно из самый необычных произведений в моей читательской жизни, я подчеркнула в книге почти всё)
Every summer, the Ramsays visit their summer home on the beautiful Isle of Skye, surrounded by the excitement and chatter of family and friends, mirroring Virginia Woolf's own joyful holidays of her youth. But as time passes, and in its wake the First World War, the transience of life becomes ever more apparent through the vignette of the thoughts and observations of the novel's disparate cast.
