Он бродит по горящему Коломбо и вспоминает свою жизнь: как снимал мертвецов, как потерял жену, как предал друга. Самая страшная сцена, когда он заходит в свой дом и видит, что его маленький сын разговаривает с кем-то невидимым, и понимает, что этот «кто-то» он сам, мёртвый отец.
