This research presents an overview of sanctions against the DPRK. analyses their economic effects, discusses why sanctions against North Korea did not achieve its intended goal, and how behavioural science can contribute to our understanding of North Koreas response to sanctions. Effectively, this study shows the necessity of a different approach in dealing with the DPRK rather than firmly adhering to sanctions.
