In the late 1930s, civil war grips Spain. When General Franco and his Fascists succeed in overthrowing the government, hundreds of thousands are forced to flee in a treacherous journey over the mountains to the French border. Давно читала на русском, хотелось бы конечно приобрести издание на испанском, но за неимением взяла хотя бы на английском. Во первых, пополнить словарный запас, а во вторых, ещё раз окунуться в перепетии главных героев в странах Южной Америки. Учитывая личность автора, кто не в курсе, почитайте её биографию, книга также интересна своей исторической и политической составляющей. Не читая скучных учебников, здесь можно почерпнуть достаточно знаний. Слог автора как всегда на высоте, английский среднего уровня.
